Description
C124 Crystal Stone is a type of metamorphic rock formed through the transformation of limestone and dolomitic rocks under intense pressure and heat deep within the Earth. This stone is named due to its visual similarity to the Italian Arabescato marble and is considered one of the most distinctive and unique decorative and building stones in Iran. The quarries of this stone are mainly located in the Aligudarz region of Lorestan province.
Physical and Chemical Properties
- Colour and Pattern: The base colour of Persian Scato is white, adorned with irregular and fine black and grey veins across its surface. These veins, often resembling spider webs or tree branches, give the stone a striking and elegant appearance. The patterns are naturally random, making each slab unique.

- Texture: Persian Scato Crystal has a dense and fine-grained texture, contributing to its strength and durability.
- Resistance: It offers relatively good compressive and abrasion resistance.
- Water Absorption: One of the standout features of this stone is its very low water absorption, making it suitable for use in humid environments.
- Polishability: Its excellent ability to be polished allows for a glossy, reflective surface that enhances the natural beauty of the patterns.
- Density: The high density of Persian Scato not only increases its durability but also contributes to its substantial weight.
Applications
Thanks to its beauty, strength, and distinctive qualities, Persian Scato Crystal Stone is used in a variety of architectural and interior design contexts:
Interior Spaces
- Wall Cladding: Used as wall covering in areas such as lobbies, living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
- Flooring: Ideal for indoor flooring due to its polishability and glossy finish.
- Cabinet and Countertops: Suitable for kitchen and bathroom countertops thanks to its resistance to moisture and staining.
- Fireplaces and Decorative Frames: Its unique appearance makes it a great choice for fireplaces and ornamental framing.

Exterior Spaces
- Building Façades: Due to its relative resistance to weathering, it can be used for external cladding, although climate conditions should be taken into account.
- Bookmatch and Fourmatch Panels: One of the most impressive applications is the use of Bookmatch and Fourmatch techniques, where two or four slabs are placed adjacent to one another to create symmetrical patterns. This is especially popular in luxurious settings such as hotel lobbies, grand halls, and villas.
Advantages
- Highly attractive and unique appearance
- Excellent polish and shine
- Low water absorption
- Relatively good strength
Disadvantages
- Relatively high price
- Heavy weight
Important Notes
- Due to its cost, it is typically used in premium and exclusive projects.
- Regular cleaning and maintenance are recommended to preserve its gloss and beauty.
- When purchasing, pay attention to the quality and selection of the stone. Slabs with a whiter background and more defined veining are considered higher quality.
